The Earthbound Series is a set of five novels about a civilization founded when a 23rd century interstellar mission from Earth suffers a warp accident sending them 5,000 years into the past, where on an earth-like planet they found a colony that thrives. After a few hundred years the progeny of the original colonists return to space. Needing Earth plants to survive they send agents to Earth who covertly walk among Earth's population to gather genetic material. Eventually they found a galactic hegemony comprising more than a dozen planets.
The stories center on Nykkyo Kyhana, such an agent sent to Earth in the final days of the twentieth century for a 1-year stint. His work becomes far from mundane when he encounters and falls in love with a troubled woman he believes is his direct ancestor and in serious need of help. His love for her risks disrupting future events, thus jeopardizing his own existence and that of his people.
